The Past
The glasshouses were originally opened on 14th May 1966 by the Mayor Councillor P.A. Saunders J.P. At the time of the opening, the Nursery Manager Mr. A.J Howe had 14 full time staff looking after the planting and upkeep of the glass houses.
The Present
The Glasshouse's still exist but for a number of years now have not been utilised to grow plants or food crops. Owned by Croydon Council and managed by Quadron (contract for parks), the glass houses are left as a place more for storage than anything else
The Future
Our Concept is to bring back this neglected piece of Croydon's Heritage into use with a number of projects for the community including food growing, recycling small to medium items for community use and place for artists.
